WKO QUALITY

The quality of our products is of the highest importance to us at WKO. Our lumber products are derived from logs harvested in the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest, a region world renowned for its quality, strength and appearance.

Throughout the milling process we use state-of-the-art optimization systems and controls to ensure the accuracy of each cut as we utilize the entire log. Our by-products which include chips, shavings, sawdust and bark are either sold to outside vendors for use in various products such as paper, wood pellets and beauty bark or used within our own system for hog fuel to fuel our dry kilns.

During the kiln drying process we utilize a wood fired boiler for steam production to be used in our four dry kilns. Throughout this process we manage the steam and moisture entering the kilns to prevent the lumber from checking or warping and ensuring the highest quality lumber for our customers.

At the planermill the lumber is planed, then graded by certified graders, sorted to length and grade before being readied for packaging. In the packaging process each unit is banded with plastic strapping with bunks attached, for extra protection of the lumber and ease of shipping. All kiln dried lumber is wrapped with waterproof paper wrap for protection from rain and sun. All these processes combine to result in a high quality product that benefits our customers and in turn benefits their customers.
